Arsenal have a very good record at home in the Premier League this season, but their away from is a clause for concern and it could be an hindrance to their quest to finish in the top four and return to Champions League football for the first time in five years.
The Gunners have the best home record in the Premier League this season alongside league leaders Manchester City with 22 points from nine games. Arsenal and City have dropped just five points at home this season. In addition to their impressive points haul at home, Arsenal have kept six clean sheets from nine home games to highlight their defensive strength at the Emirates Stadium and they have four straight clean sheets in the league at the moment and five straight clean sheets in all competitions presently. In summary, Arsenal are posting points tally and defensive stats of a title contender at home and points tally and defensive stats of a relegation threatened team on the road. To this effect, the Gunners need to find a solution to their away struggles if they have their eyes on a place in the top four when it comes to the Premier League standings.
Arsenal are already looking forward and are now trying to find a replacement for their misfiring striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as they want to sign a younger, more hungry striker who can lead the line for them starting from next season. Aubameyang has had a difficult time trying to rediscover his goal scoring touch and his best form since signing a new contract extension at the Emirates Stadium a couple of months ago and after being very patient for too long, manager Mikel Arteta and the club’s board and fans are said to have lost patience in the Ganon international striker. French’s triker Alexandre Lacazette is also not helping matters and he’s also been misfiring recently.
The two strikers have been tipped to leave the north London club and look for another clubs but after not doing so in the summer, they could be doing so in January. A couple of players were allowed to leave the club in the summer and David Luiz and Willian were the two big-name players that were allowed to leave as they were deemed surplus to requirements by Arteta. It’s been particularly hard to let go of Aubameyang and Lacazette because no club has come to inquire about signing them and a huge issue for any club willing to sign them would be their wage demands. The race to sign PSV Eindhoven star Donyell Kallen has continued to heat up as Arsenal have now reportedly included themselves in the race to acquire the player’s signature. Dortmund were first said to be keen to sign the 22-year-old as a direct replacement for Jadon Sancho, who has already agreed to join English Premier League giants Manchester United this summer for a fee reported to be around £73 million. However, Dortmund will have to act very fast in the transfer window if they want to secure the services of the Netherlands international youngster so as beat off interest from the Gunners.
Mallen was a bright star for PSV last season and it is only normal for him to be linked with a move away from the Dutch Eredivisie club. His fine performances last season also earned him a call-up to the Netherlands national team and he also had a part in the Dutch team’s run in the 2020 UEFA Euros tournament. However, he may not be lining up for PSV next season, especially if more clubs join the queue to sign him this summer.
Premier League club Arsenal have continued to show their interest in signing Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana this summer and have also accelerated their attempts to land the Cameroon Ian star when the summer transfer window opens for business in a few weeks. The London club are currently in search of a goalkeeper after losing their faith in the current number one shot-stopper Bernd Leno who has also been linked with an exit from the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal are insistent that they want to sign Onana despite the goalkeeper currently banned from engaging in any official football activity. He was banned after it was reported that he was using painkillers during matches and was accused of doping crime.
It’s one of the big questions faced by Arsenal fans regarding their beloved club as the current season draws to a close. The Gunners are currently ensuring a torrid campaign in the Premier League and even though they are already ruled out of the title race, it continues to seem uncertain that they will even qualify for a European place ahead of next season.
While they are also almost certain to miss out on a top-four finish, the only hope they have to qualify for the Champions League next season is by winning the Europa League title this season, a competition they’re currently still in.
Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal will be having their credentials as FA Cup defending Champions tested as they take on Southampton in their most recent FA Cup tie. The Gunners are currently enjoying a fine run of form as they continue their resurgence in the Premier League as well as the FA Cup.

Arsenal Football Club manager Mikel Arteta has revealed that his assistant manager likes their reported target Sander Berge. Arteta was speaking in a pre-match press conference before they clash with Molde in the Europa League on Thursday.
At the press conference, Arteta was asked a couple of questions, including about the North London Club’s interest in Berge.
Arsenal have been hit with a string of bad news of recent including the possibility of losing experienced defender David Luiz for up to a month as the new season begins. Luiz has found his rhythm again under Mikel Arteta. With William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes coming through the ranks, Luiz would been critical to their development and gradual ease into the league.
Though there are still options in Rob Holding, Shkodran Mustafi and Papas Sokratis, if Luiz actually takes up to a month to return to full fitness, the duo will get their debut and be required to step up quickly.
Arsenal can profit from the financial struggle that AS Roma is currently facing this summer as many of the Italians have been reported to pull themselves out or move because of Chris Smalling. The footballer has been playing for the Capital side of Italy on loan for the entire season after he fell out of favor at Old Trafford. He has been able to revive his career at a side for Serie A football before returning to his past form and that has made the Italians prioritize his signature permanently.
However, the Manchester United club has already told them that for landing their man they would have to pay £25 million but this sum seems excessive for the Italian side. Reports have also come out claiming that the doubtful realities of the post-pandemic world are another reason that has forced the Italian side to abandon their hunt for getting the defender. And this has opened the door for his move to Arsenal. According to a source, Chris Smalling had earlier said that he would like to stay and it is a deal that suits all the parties at the end of the ongoing season.
Franck Kessie has been reported to be on the radar of Arsenal but the Gunners are believed to be holding out for a loan deal for the AC Milan midfielder from now till the end of the season.
The purchases made during the summer especially that of Nicholas Pepe that made the North London club break their transfer record has made it hard for Mikel Arteta to actually sign a player of his choice.
